Moving to the village & 'visit' from Liz

Dɛn dɔn pablish am: 27.11.2017

After two months on Koh Jum, I had made some acquaintances and friendships and got an offer from Sao, a cheerful and open-minded woman, to move into her parents' vacant house. It is located in the middle of Ban Ting Rai (one of the three villages on the island) and I agreed without having seen the house from the inside. When I first entered the Blue House (named after its blue roof), I was amazed by its size...and I was quite happy that Liz, a friend from Würzburg who also started her journey, had announced her visit for the next few days.

Liz and I made ourselves at home in the blue house... which means we spread all our stuff on all possible surfaces in the house :)
And we thought it was a brilliant idea to hang up the fresh food to protect it from ants. We didn't expect the monkey to suddenly reach through the window and snatch the bananas. Thanks to my reaction, I saved two bananas, one of which had the monkey's fingerprint on it :D
The following time in the Blue House was filled with cooking, drinking coffee, hanging out with friends, creative time, night-time swimming in the moonlight and glowing plankton, wonderful conversations, music (especially the song Zombie that was played by the neighbor) and Liz's birthday celebration with campfire, marshmallows, and the best Mojitos. Liz, also a slow traveler, decided to stay and the short visit turned into a long journey together :)
