3rd Day - Vancouver

Dɛn dɔn pablish am: 11.04.2023

10th April 2023

Although we are about 230 km north of Seattle, it should be more like "Sleepless in Vancouver" for us. Jet lag has hit us hard and there is little chance of getting much sleep 😴 at night, so we are quite exhausted during the day. The 9-hour time difference is quite noticeable.

But never mind, because today's motto is "Happy Birthday, dear Brigitte".🥰

And since we've been awake since 1:00 AM, we went to the hotel spa area early at 7:00 AM to take a quick dip in the pool, which oddly enough is located in the middle of a bar/disco🤷‍♂️. On one side, there's a bar counter and plush club chairs, and on the other side, there's a DJ stage with a light show. Somehow, it looks a bit like a location for a porn shoot 🤣. But we decided to go to the outdoor plunge pool instead, with a water temperature of about 45°C, which was a very special experience in an outside temperature of about 5°C👍🏻😅.

Afterwards, we went for a delicious and plentiful birthday breakfast 😋 (thanks to Franzi and Sophie) at "Paul Bakery" on Robson Street, where Brigitte also received a few birthday presents🎁.

In the afternoon, we headed to the wonderful Stanley Park, where we could enjoy the magnificent park with its rainforest during a longer walk (or what I call a forced march 😅), next to the huge totems of the First Nation (which I still call Indians), the lighthouse, and Beaver Lake. And all without a single drop of rain today 😊… fantastic.

Cardero's Restaurant... a worthy ending to Brigitte's birthday. I had already booked a table there weeks ago online because of the good reviews, and we were not disappointed. Great food, great service (as everywhere here), and a fantastic location right in the marina of Vancouver. And because someone must have revealed in advance that a birthday is being celebrated here 😉, we not only got the best table, but Brigitte also received a very small birthday cake with a mini candle.
