DAY 5 GUADELOUPE
The second largest island in the Antilles (390,000 inhabitants) is part of France and the EU. For us it's easy.....the euro is valid and our phone network should work! Like Antigua, Columbus discovered the island on his second voyage in 1493, where one part of the island is green, wooded and mountainous and the other part is more like a classic holiday paradise.
Plan: Today we are driving with the rental car to the left wing of the butterfly! The island has the shape of a butterfly!
After breakfast on the outside deck, we made our way to the rental car company! Unfortunately, all cars were already reserved directly in the city center, so we had to walk for about 45 minutes! A beautiful rainbow provided some variation! Speaking of today's problem.....the Cascade aux Ecrevisses (Crab Waterfall) was still good, then some variation....rain-botanical garden Jardin de Deshaies-Grande Anse beach-rain-lying briefly in the sun-rain-and the day was over! By the way, today we walked about 15 km, but despite the rain interruptions, it was a beautiful day in the tropical landscape!
Joint sail-out as usual in the Lanai Bar and exchange with the people from Karlsruhe! In the evening, a French buffet!
