The last few days there has finally been more going on than in the two weeks before. On Friday, I drove from Auckland to Tauranga, almost 250 km, in the new car. The car runs great, apart from the temperature problems. When I arrived in Tauranga, I went straight to the beach to finally try out my kite equipment. Unfortunately, with little success, I couldn't get the kite in the air due to lack of wind. As I later found out in the hostel, there is currently no wind at all, which means that my plans to go kiting have failed.
On Saturday, I looked for other activities and hiked to Mount Maunganui. It's not a very high mountain, but the 2 km ascent was not as easy as I thought at 28 degrees Celsius. From the top, you have a great view of the sea and Tauranga.
The next day, I drove to McLaren Falls. With the car, you are much more mobile and can decide spontaneously where you want to go without having to stick to all the bus timetables. Driving here is a bit unfamiliar, not only driving on the left side of the road, but also the other traffic rules.
Today, as a conclusion, I took the opportunity to lay on the beach and got a slight sunburn on my back. Around 4 o'clock, I made my way back to Auckland, even if I spend the night somewhere along the way.
