After the last 2 stressful days, it's finally starting. You already know it - packing, weighing, and unpacking the suitcase again because the allowed target weight was almost reached, sorry exceeded. The days before the flight, there is always a certain irritability in the air between Schaahatz and me. I am supposedly doing useless things like tidying up and cleaning, while Schaahatz, in my eyes, is just staring senselessly at his phone. But this has been going on for almost 25 years now, and it doesn't matter which vacation we embark on (whether camping around the corner or traveling to the end of the world). To make things worse this time, we advertised our car, and what can I say, for months no one was interested in the car, but just 2 days before the flight, someone contacts us about viewing the car. So, clean up the car and it also needs an inspection. Done.
But now everything is done, Grandma's 99th birthday celebrated, Leon's gift handed over (congratulations again dear Leon and happy 25th birthday) all suitcases are packed, everything is tidied up, everything is organized, now we can go.
First leg: with Air France from Hanover - Paris, one and a half hours scheduled for 1:55 p.m. - actually 2:40 p.m. But what else is new. We are still taking it easy because we originally had 2 hours and 40 minutes in Paris for our connecting flight - well, now 2 hours, but that should be enough even for Charles de Gaulle (one of the largest international airports in Europe, in Paris).
But even in Paris, we have a 30-minute delay, so we can enjoy the 9-minute bus ride from our Hanover flight to the terminal and the 10-minute walk through the futuristic airport to the gate to the fullest.
11 hours lie ahead of us.
As always, Schaahatz and I took a full risk with the seat booking and booked a window and an aisle seat, hoping that the middle seat remains empty. It has never worked so far - we always had a moron between us. But sometimes miracles do happen - 'Boarding completed' and the seat is still free.
