Arthur's Pass

Let's go - get away from this weather. Today we go over Arthur's Pass. The landscape is certainly beautiful, but I can't really see far because the cloud cover is too thick. But once you get to the top of the pass, things get a little more relaxed. There is actually an oversized rain gutter built over the street, the water then falls into the depths next to the street as a waterfall 😳.

It's good that there is always a little exit here to take photos, including a few minutes later. Then I can admire the road I just drove on - it looks amazing!

The further away I get from the pass, the better the weather gets and when I arrive at my destination today, the sun is shining and it is warm - finally! I haven't been able to wear a t-shirt that often in New Zealand and since I only took 2 sweaters with me, I've been doing laundry for a long time for the last few weeks. That's what's happening today too. Unfortunately there is no clothesline at the campsite, so I should probably use the dryer - but I don't want to. I quickly get creative because I brought a short clothesline with me and I also got a short one from the car rental company. One line goes between the two open doors at the back, another goes to the open side door and the side mirror.

And then dark clouds appear again, they look a bit threatening, but also very exciting in the photo. So take down the clotheslines quickly, luckily some things are already dry. The rest is hung creatively in the camper: the storage compartments above the driver and passenger seats are filled with clothespins and clothes, the clothesline is placed in front of the left-hand wheel on the entry handles, the socks dry on the steering wheel... 🤣
