Traditional Maya Dances in Antigua

Dɛn dɔn pablish am: 22.08.2019

After our weekend at Lake Atitlan, we return to Antigua. On Tuesday, the children of Nuevo Amanacer perform their traditional Maya dances at the Rainbow Café. Vicky asked us to distribute flyers to promote the event.

In addition to approaching tourists on the street, we wanted to use the Free Walking Tour to kill two birds with one stone - get to know the city better and possibly attract some guests for the event. The latter did not turn out to be very successful, as only one French woman besides us participates, who is initially interested but in the end does not participate. Of the many people who only take the flyer and continue walking, we actually talk to a few nice people who take the time to learn more about the project and also show up at 5:30 p.m. at the Rainbow Cafe.

The event was a really nice conclusion to our relatively short time in Itzapa. It is impressive how Vicky, Manuel, and Gloria support the children with such a positive attitude towards life. I hope that despite the short volunteering period, the contact will be maintained and I am curious to see what opportunities may arise in the future.
