Land Number 11 Laos

Dɛn dɔn pablish am: 10.11.2017

Monday 6.11 (100 km)

We actually just wanted to drive to the border and check it out with the bikes, but somehow we ended up crossing it.
Stupid that 30 days from 6.11 only go until 5.12 and not until 6.12...
So we will have to stay in Laos illegally for 1 day longer because one person at the counter doesn't know what the other person is saying and doing!

Patrick is really pissed off, we are both pretty exhausted, one more hour until it gets dark, hungry, haven't found a place to sleep yet, and we have no idea how everything works in this new country... GREAT.

We stop at a house and ask if they have food.
They say yes, we sit down and have a beer first.
Apparently there is only one dish - luckily something that I like!!
Rice noodles with Bolognese soup or something - hihi.
Patrick, the clever guy, sees that the cable of the rice cooker doesn't work anymore and fixes it.
When we ask if we can possibly camp next to their house, they even give us the garage... YAY

Tuesday 7.11. (66km/ 1100 hm)

The same procedure for breakfast...
We are not asked what dish we like, we are served the Bolo - rice noodles again... delicious...
So now the first real day in Laos... And actually - it's always going up and down.... phew... But we don't have stress.Unfortunately there is not food like in Thailand at every corner, so we are relieved to discover a 'local' at 15 o'clock.
The man says that there is noodle soup - ok.... Later he asks where we sleep and that he has a guesthouse... Since we wouldn't have achieved much today anyway, we decide to stay..
Tonight there will be chicken soup.. Hahaha
So the nice 'Däng' cooked rice with chicken for us, a huge pot. Very delicious but expensive compared to Thailand.
7 euros with 2 big beers.

Wednesday 8.11 (63 km/1100 hm)

Strengthened with an omelette, we continue cycling. We have set ourselves the goal of reaching a big city for my birthday, which is about 110 km. After 20 km and about 700 meters of altitude, we know that we will do that in 2 days.
So tonight again in the tent and tomorrow afternoon in the city. Yay!
I hope for internet and cake...
The route today was fantastic compared to the last 3 months.
The children here are so cute, they are all happy to see us, wave at us and shout good morning...
Our sleeping spot for today is a 'rest area'. The girls working in the field here are curious and look into our tent...
