It was a short night... not because we had to get up early, more because we woke up very early. But that was not a problem at all. So we could enjoy the great breakfast in the hotel in great detail. Presumably it will be the best breakfast of the next three weeks, the Amis have a completely different idea, as we Germans. Nevertheless, everything was perfect this morning. You could make waffles in the iron yourself, there was also a toaster, eggs, bacon, fruit. Really top notch. We were very full and could start the drive towards Lake Tahoe.
Soon our drive took us through ever-changing landscapes. One of the most beautiful was a stretch on the E16 in a northerly direction. There were wineries every few meters that invited you to taste. Certainly very tempting, because California wines are not to be scoffed at, but we only enjoyed the beautiful landscape. We approached Lake Tahoe from the south and also gladly drove off the main roads. So we drove to a summit where a hut was located in summer mode. Deserted but very idyllic.
The view there was magnificent. Then we went directly to the place which is divided through the state border between California and Nevada. Exciting that the casinos suddenly shot up at the border, because gambling is allowed here. The town of South Lake City has an absolute spa flair. In the town itself there is the Haevenly Village itself, and a cable car goes to the Snow Park. Later we found a restaurant for dinner, we could sit outside in the best weather and shared a pizza and a sandwich between three of us and were more than full. Marina, our waitress, was very concerned about our well-being, that's how a vacation should be.
On the way back we wanted to go directly to the water again and got caught in the middle of an open air reggae concert right on the shore. Great atmosphere, cheerful people who could experience a concert for free every Thursday here all summer long. Young people camping on the side of the road, balancing on slacklines... and then there was Christopher who was soooo happy to meet me and when he found out that I was from Germany, he couldn't contain himself anymore. So another wonderful day came to an end at temperatures above 25 degrees and we went to bed early, satisfied and exhausted... Good night.
