In order to do the Mount Batur trekking tour, we decided to sleep right at the volcano. We found a great guest house with a direct view of the volcano and a lake in front of it! It's not crowded here. There are not many tourists here, as most of them start the trekking tours from Ubud. The owners are very nice and provide us with delicious food and drinks. We meet many locals. Many of them are local farmers growing cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, and onions.
On the first day, we just let everything sink in, as we had to go to bed early because the trekking tour started at 03:15 in the night. Unfortunately, we couldn't sleep early because we closed our eyes at around 12 o'clock and the alarm clock rang at half past two.
Our guide Gidi made us a coffee and tea as a welcome greeting! Then we started in the deep dark with flashlights. We had the option to choose between an easy and a difficult path, and we chose the second option. At times, we regretted our decision 😊. When we reached the top, we were happy and satisfied. There was tea, toast with banana and egg for breakfast. Gidi was super nice and told us a lot about the volcano and the Balinese religion. We were back at our accommodation for the second breakfast at eight o'clock sharp. Now it's time to rest 😊
