Our Europe trip has started! Day 82 out of 365 days off: We are in Belgium

게시됨: 23.06.2020

After the visit to the workshop (which was unfortunately unsuccessful), we are temporarily ignoring the defects in the motorhome (we will have to return the motorhome to the manufacturer's factory for two weeks in autumn/winter), in order to finally start our Europe trip. From Nuremberg, we drove to the Mosel via another stopover, to the Belgian North Sea coast. We had considered making a stop in Maastricht and Liège, but during the time of Corona, city trips are not as much fun, so we decided against it.

We arrived in the holiday resort of De Haan on Sunday, at a campsite. On Monday, we took a trip to Bruges, where we always wanted to go. We really liked the town, although we imagined it to be more quaint. If you didn't know you were in Belgium, it could have been Holland, where there are similarly beautiful towns. At the end of our city stroll, we had a burger with Belgian fries, and it was one of the best we've had in months or even years. Highly recommended!

We also have a parking tip for you, in case you want to go to Bruges. The parking lot 'Randparking Bevrijdingslaan' (Bevrijdingslaan 9, 8000 Brugge) is free. It's a 1200-metre walk, but it goes through a park (which was the highlight of the trip for Triene ;o) We didn't check how much parking fees would have been at more centrally located parking lots.

Today, we drove along the Belgian North Sea coast towards Holland with the Smart car. The Belgian holiday resorts (Blankenberge and Knokke-Heist) are alarmingly densely built up and reminiscent of the 'concrete bunkers' in Spain, although there were also very beautiful properties to admire in Knokke-Heist, especially in the northern part. There is also an extremely extensive shopping mile here, including exclusive brands. If you like that ;o)

On the other hand, we hit the jackpot with De Haan. Although there are rather unspectacular high-rise buildings on the promenade, there are extremely many beautiful houses/villas to admire in the back area. What particularly struck us positively here is that parking is free. The beach is very nice, with very fine sand and dunes away from the promenade beaches.

That's all from us... We will check in more often now and continue to report on what we are doing and where we are hanging out.

As always, we appreciate your interest and send you all warm greetings!

Thomas, Janina, and Triene
