Small addition to Monday: really, dear French people, a day at the beach and already the first pick-up line 😂 but he didn't have a boat and didn't qualify as an educational professional, so I declined politely. Besides, he wanted to have a beer with me, tsk, I don't even like beer 🙄
Now, let's talk about the remaining days, which will be summarized here, as I'm a bit busy with leisure activities.
On Tuesday, I went to the train station (this time by bus, as I don't have all the time in the world, I need to go to the beach) to buy my ticket for Sete at the counter. Surprisingly, my French was quite understandable, I got a ticket for the right day and the right direction 🎉 To reward myself, I immediately went to the beach 🏝. Since the day was still young, I decided to head towards the Calanques, where there is a beautiful bay for swimming.
On the way back, I encountered a group of the French army, fingers on the trigger, which was quite creepy in the remote nature, but I was ready to obediently throw myself to the ground if demanded. However, they passed by without noticing me, maybe it's already been known that I'm under the personal protection of the sergeant 😊.
On Wednesday, I did the big tour of the Calanques, 15 km of hiking over rocks and stones, climbing, scrambling, stumbling, and cursing. But as you can see, the challenging tour was worth it. And I had a little reward in my backpack as well, my swimwear for the beautiful bay 🥰. What fascinated me the most during the hike was that it was really hot and people were wearing jeans for hiking. I would start to sweat just by looking at them. Back at the hostel, I took a power nap, as the program was still going on, and I'm not here for my own pleasure. In the evening, we watched the sunset with wine, beer, and chips, along with a few people from the hostel. The sunset pictures didn't turn out as cheesy, it was cloudy. But I always try my best.
On Thursday, I had to recover from the strains of the previous day, and what could be better for that? Of course, the beach, cool water for my tired feet, and plenty of rest on the towel. Plus, I needed to gather strength for my first cooking lesson. Since Stephane is always impressed when I cook, he said he would sit there the whole evening, waiting for me to start cooking and watch and learn. I didn't want to torture the good sergeant by making him wait indefinitely, so we had an official cooking class with a specific time. If anyone thinks I'm conjuring up three-course meals here, I have to disappoint them, I'm just cooking to survive, or rather using 4-5 different kitchen utensils instead of the microwave. We had zucchini fritters with feta cheese dip. Stephane was really happy and proud of his cooked meal, and everyone else enjoyed it as well. Of course, I was the sergeant in the kitchen, he was just the assistant cook.
Afterward, we went to the beach again, I have to, it's just so close.
