Today we went to Aconcagua and did a short hike at Parque Provincial Aconcagua at 3,600 meters, you can really feel the altitude. After that, we had lunch in Las Cuevas, the last village before Chile. Then, we visited Puente del Inca and Cementerio de los Andinistas. We had the father of one of the students with us, who was the first Argentine to climb Mount Everest and has also been to Aconcagua. He told us interesting stories and some sad stories about his friends who lost their lives on Aconcagua. The graves in the cemetery are decorated with accessories of the mountaineers, like shoes or scarves. This place leaves you with a lot of respect for the power of nature...
Aconcagua itself is over 6,000 meters high and if you want to climb it as a foreigner, you have to pay $1,000 at a certain point just to be able to continue...I don't know how much the entire ascent costs...
