Our early farewell from San Rafael, heading towards the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, was extremely worth it. We already saw on the way to San Francisco that a thick cloud cover had formed over the water. I would be lying if I said we weren't excited about what was to come like children...
To see the bridge from the sea side, we had to drive up a hill. The road layout is one-way and has a few important exits... of course, we missed the exit that was important to us and had to drive the entire loop of the approach again. On the second try, we took the right lane and then had the most amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge. We had already seen the bridge in clear weather during our last visit here. This time we were "hot" for the bridge in the floating cloud cover. Just fantastic!!! (There are enough pictures here to understand that ...😊)
Meanwhile, the cloud cover moved with varying "visibility" from the sea over the bridge. Every moment it revealed more of the bridge or covered it again. It was a great experience.
What was just brilliant for us as viewers of the cloud cover spectacle was a bit more exciting for the ships that wanted to pass through the Golden Gate Bridge from the Pacific. They used their ship horns to draw attention to themselves. And although we didn't see any of the passing ships, we could hear the honking loudly. The ships probably also communicate with each other about this because hardly any sooner had one ship blown its horn than another responded with a different, distinct pitch.
We could hardly tear ourselves away from the event, but the day was not planned for San Francisco alone. Our path led us to explore the city a bit more before leaving the San Francisco area over the Oakland Bay Bridge.
During the drive through San Francisco or the district of China-Town, we noticed that all, but really almost all, Chinese people were wearing a corona mask. Whether in the store, in the car, or on the street, most of them had the mask on. The people without masks were usually not people with Chinese features. What motivates these people to do that?
Oh, yes, there was one more thing I had to photograph, the sight disgusted and attracted me... The young woman by the car in the last picture here. Thorsten and I were still trying to figure out if she was wearing anything like "panties"... either nothing or her ass cheeks have eaten everything... ugh... (but honestly, some girls/young women walk around like this here...)
