Day 3, Jeongseong

게시됨: 30.01.2018

The night was short as expected. At 4 o'clock jet lag kicked in. I was wide awake and it was difficult to fall back asleep. Nevertheless, I was able to doze off a little bit.

Just like at home, I barely calculated my time until breakfast. It was already evident during the shower that I was running a bit late. Besides having to push down the lever for the water, it also took a moment for the water to get warmer. But at least it worked.

I managed to get to breakfast somewhat early and there was a positive surprise waiting for us. On one hand, the setup was like a dance ball. On the other hand, the buffet was very generous. From salad - which is somewhat unusual for us - to various egg variations, salmon, and even burgers, it had everything one could desire.

After a personal greeting from the best director on ski slopes, Bni Giger, we headed towards the bus shuttle. The ride to Jeongseong, where the speed disciplines will take place, took about 40 minutes, assuming the wind conditions allow it. Today, due to the wind, the slopes couldn't operate. Did this mean it was the end of our work day as well? Far from it! Snow groomers were organized for transportation. Two lucky ones got to sit in the cabin while we tried to make ourselves somewhat comfortable in the basket on the shovel. This lasted only briefly before three of us - including myself - were ordered to get out. We each got to sit on a snowmobile. My driver started last. He floored it and quickly caught up to and passed the snowmobiles that started just before us. After about 12 minutes, we were the first ones to arrive at the top. A freezing wind blew against us. Luckily, we could warm up a bit in a container until our colleagues arrived at the top of the men's downhill start hill with the snow groomer.

Until lunchtime, we managed to lay down the first television cables. This was not quite easy in the challenging conditions, especially for Wassili. After lunch, we moved to areas that were calmer in terms of wind. We were able to pull a few more cables. Conclusion of the day: We were able to lay down some cables, but we still have a lot of potential in terms of quantity.

For dinner, we treated ourselves to an Asian noodle soup. It was quite big and had a good spiciness level. I think we will definitely enjoy such a soup a few more times in the coming days and weeks.
