San Bernardino

Today I managed to get Meche out of bed relatively early. We planned a trip to San Bernardino for today.

San Bernardino is about 35km away from here and is known as the vacation spot for the rich and famous. Many Germans also live here.

The way there was spectacular. The road to Sanber is new and will soon be toll road. Nevertheless, I couldn't exceed 80km/h and only rarely.

I'm already looking forward to our further trips at an average speed of 50 km/h... :-(

Since Paraguay is a landlocked country and therefore has no direct access to the sea, San Bernardino is also popular with the few tourists who visit Paraguay due to its location on Lake Ypacaraí.

We were very lucky that there was hardly anything going on. Meat salad is the order of the day here on weekends!

Since there was hardly anything going on, we cruised on Lake Ypacaraí for half an hour for 15000 Guaraníes (about 2.10€).

But not everything that glitters is gold! Maintenance is not a priority here. The water of the lake is completely dirty. Not only waste was dumped in the lake, industrial waste was also dumped here for years. Although the lake is slowly recovering, I definitely wouldn't swim in this lake!

This jetty drove me crazy :-D

On the way home I made a funny discovery. Meche really wants to eat there, so maybe we can take more photos of this restaurant. :-)
