04.01.2019 - Fish River Canyon Day 1

Today, after a hearty breakfast and final preparations, we drove to Fish River Canyon. About 200 km on mostly gravel road, the last 20 were easily drivable with the 4x4. The roads in Costa Rica were sometimes much worse....

The view from the lodge located right on the edge of the canyon is truly magnificent, and with a pleasant breeze, it's about 34 degrees.... The location, the price, and the people here (mostly white, almost all from South Africa) have a touch of decadence, but as they say, 'you can't take it with you'. We also always strive to treat the local staff with respect... not something that all guests find automatic, by the way.
