Through Northern Italy: Aquileia to Verona

게시됨: 09.07.2024

From Aquileia to Summaga

Corno River in Villanova
River Tagliamento in Latisana
Mill in Portogruao

We pitched our tent at Camping Agrioasi . Very nice campsite. To reduce noise at the tent, we reduced the size of the football pitch by 50%.

From soccer goal to tumble dryer: a steep career
Dinner preparation at Camp Summaga
Pecorino with pistachios goes very well with the knife from Lunas from Sardinia

From Summaga to Sant'Alberto

Timber industry in Veneto: poplar plantations
Winegrowing in Veneto
Treviso: Via Calmaggiore. At the end of the street turn left ( Gelateria La Romana had the best ice cream, with chocolate whipped cream)
Playground Camping Agricapeggio in Sant'Alberto: enough for 4 stars ;)
Hydropower screw in Summaga is used to generate electricity

From Sant'Alberto to Crosare

Shortly after setting off, we came to the former Traviso-Ostiglia railway line. For almost 20 km, you mostly ride in the shade of this tree tunnel. Fantastic!

Soya fields near Mancamento
Well, somewhere...

At the campsite in Crosare we received a very warm welcome and showered with service that is worth mentioning. Irene served us chilled white wine (produced by the father in organic quality) with matching glasses and reserved us places in the nearby restaurant. The campsite La Colombara Camp & Lodge is definitely worth mentioning.

From Crosare to Ostiglia

In many places in Italy, cycle and pedestrian paths are structurally separated from the roadway. However, cyclists often have to cross the road at pedestrian and cycle path zebra crossings. In Boschi Sant'Anna (a municipality with around 1,400 inhabitants), the road planners have gone wild.

Main street of Boschi Sant'Anna: no car hit, but an ugly street view
Adige near Legnago
Melara: shady spot at 32°C

Check-in at B&B Antica Dimora . The owners don't speak English, but thanks to Google translation everything worked out.

Ostiglia: Room in the Antica Dimora
Ostiglia: Breakfast room

From Ostiglia to Mantua/Mantova

Today we went to Mantua or Mantova on the Eurovelo 8. For a few kilometers there was once again a single trail section, which we managed well despite the heavily loaded bikes.

After the obligatory ice cream sundae, we checked into the hotel because we didn't feel like exploring the city at 34°C in the shade. It was more bearable in the evening.

What a pig manure,,,
Po Valley
Butt break
Mantua: Piazza Sordello
Mantua: Captain's Palace
Mantua: Cathedral (a little more show than substance)
Mantua: Cathedral
Mantua: in the Basilica di Sant'Andrea all the walls, corners and ceilings are painted. From the usual viewing distance and direction in the church, it is not possible to see that these are two-dimensional objects. This craftsmanship is unbelievable.
Mantua Basikia: same object from the side

From Mantua to Verona

What a pig manure,,,
Verona: the Adige picks up speed
Verona: Parish of San Giorgio in Braida and Sanctuary of the Madonna of Lourdes
Verona: MundM in front of the arena
Veroma: Colonna di San Marco
Very tasty: Rosé Spumante Andreola
