After I had to check out of the hotel on Tuesday, I first made my way to the train station to explore the best way to get to Chiang Mai.
At the counter, I had the choice between the Tuesday night train, which has the advantage of not booking a hostel and saving money, or taking the first train on Wednesday morning. I decided on the train on Wednesday. After all, I want to see some of the scenery, so I stayed in Bangkok for one more night.
My hostel was right next to the train station so I didn't have to go far the next day.
In the afternoon, I also walked around the night and visited China Town, the neighborhood right next to the train station, and in the end I ended up at Khoasan Road in the Green House to eat Pad Thai 😇
But it's also delicious 😝
In the evening, I booked the next hostel in Chiang Mai for 2 days and then went to bed early, as I had to leave early in the morning.
By the way, the hostel at the train station was called Chic Hostel and the breakfast was fantastic... I can highly recommend it.
In the morning 8.30 the train finally started... the journey was supposed to take 11 hours.
After one hour, the houses finally became fewer and the nature more. We seemed to have finally left the metropolis of Bangkok behind.
Instead, it now became more and more like a lake on both sides of the train, due to the current rainy season there was flooding and we were driving through the lake landscape all the time, occasionally passing a small town or a village where the houses were mostly built on stilts. You probably know that here.
As we went further north, we saw more and more mountains and it became increasingly green until finally we were driving through the jungle. 😀
In the evening, we arrived in Chiang Mai and it was raining again, but I went straight to the hostel and checked in.
Now I'm sitting here in a small restaurant right next to the train station, I ordered delicious Thai food and afterwards I'll probably visit a few bars. Tomorrow, a visit to Chiang Mai is definitely planned.
