New York City🗽

게시됨: 29.08.2024

Following Maine, I had a rather special destination planned - New York City. It was never really one of my top travel destinations, but it was always in the back of my mind that I would like to visit. Now, everything came together perfectly, and I was incredibly excited about it. 3 days in New York! I started right away at Grand Central Station since that’s where my train arrived. This is probably one of the most famous train stations in the world. I then strolled through Manhattan all the way down to the Brooklyn Bridge, passing by the Empire State Building and several other skyscrapers! It was quite impressive and so bustling, but in a good way. It didn’t feel overwhelming or too much; it just felt alive with so much to see everywhere. I had to cross the Brooklyn Bridge, of course, and take some typical tourist photos! After walking a bit around Brooklyn, I grabbed something to eat and sat down at Brooklyn Heights with a view of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty from a bit further away. I took the ferry back over the East River and got off at Wall Street, which was a bit underwhelming and uneventful. I just strolled through here until I reached Broadway. I walked along there for a while and didn’t even know where to look first due to the abundance of sights. Eventually, when the impressions became too much, I hopped on the subway and headed to Times Square. I soaked in even more impressions there! However, that was also my last stop of the day in New York at least. I was off to a concert in New Haven with Katherine and a friend. There’s not much to mention about New Haven itself except for Yale University. The concert was something quite different for me but really cool! The next day started with breakfast and a walk in Central Park. Afterwards, I went to Columbia University to see where Elizabeth would be spending her next years and to meet Katherine. She then gave us a really cool tour of New York for the entire afternoon. We rode along the West River into Manhattan and continued through a stilted garden amidst the skyscrapers heading south. We stopped by the Chelsea Market and grabbed lunch, which we enjoyed at Little Island. We then continued through the city with a few more stops and learned some very interesting data and facts about New York City. Finally, we rode back through the Diamond District and past the Rockefeller Center to Central Park. There, I was once again able to confirm my theory that in America, everyone, really everyone, loves to jog at any time of the day or night. Then it got dark, and we made our way back. Thus, my last day in America had already arrived. I definitely wanted to spend it again in New York City. I got up early in the morning and made my way to get breakfast, which I enjoyed by the Hudson River. I spent the rest of the day wandering through Williamsburg, a neighborhood in Brooklyn. From one second-hand store to another, I just enjoyed the day. In the afternoon, it was already time to head back, unfortunately to the airport as well. As much as I regretted leaving Katherine and NYC for the time being, something quite exciting awaited me, and I was really looking forward to it! 🫶🏼
