The sun is shining again and you could have breakfast outside. Just like the Swiss family across the way. Family "Dick" with two daughters, also plump. And all of this in a VW bus. Oh boy.
What a luxury I have.
Today I have considerable problems with my router and the internet. I can't solve it right now and I also want to leave early.
But it's only 74 km further to Mandelieu - la - Napoule behind Cannes. The Camping Les Cigales has already opened earlier than most and will be my destination. And they accept my new acquisition - the ACSI Camping Card. From there, I want to ride through the Esterel Mountains with my racing bike.
The border guards are not smiling today. I'm waved over and checked. The motorhome is searched to see if there are any other people inside. Apparently a measure to detect human smuggling. When he sees the garage with the bicycles, a smile flashes across his face and he wishes me a "bon voyage".
I told the sat nav - no highway and no toll road. It sticks to that. But for that, I'm driving all over the country. Monaco is a disaster, I have no idea where I am and I only rely on the sat nav voice.
Then a snap decision at the exit of Monaco. I see a sign - direction Nice "au bord de la mer". I'll take that.
And that's an adventure. The road leads over the N 45 right into the mountains. But that's exactly what I was looking for on the Cote d'Azur. Serpentine roads and great views of the coast on this road.
Otherwise, always along the N 6007 through Nice (city of construction sites, getting lost multiple times and finding my way back in narrow streets...) until Cannes.
The main road led me straight to the famous Promenade "Boulevard de la Croisette" - the boulevard in Cannes that I already knew from the Tour des Alpes 2017.
And then another surprise at the destination Mandelieu, the campsite "Les Cigales" is only 500 m away from our former hotel, so I already knew the area.
That led me to take another short bike ride and familiarize myself with tomorrow. In doing so, I discover many places where we were with our cycling community in 2017 - the port of Napoule, the restaurant La Brocherie, the beach "La Robinson".
The e-bike lives up to its name and takes me along the hilly road along the coast to the next town Theoule- sur -mer, where you can enjoy the evening atmosphere on the deserted beach. However, no beach bar or restaurant is open.
By the way, the campsite is a 4 * campsite in the middle of a residential area and makes a very good impression. It fills up with a lot of motorhomes again in the evening, almost only French people. But I can talk to them well.
