On January 1st, I went to St. Kilda with Leonie and her parents in the evening, which is about 20 minutes away from Brighton by bus. We walked along the beach promenade for a while and then headed to the pier to see the penguins that live there. It was very crowded that evening and we were worried that we wouldn't see any penguins, but luckily it was worth it and we saw 2 small penguins. The penguins live right by the sea among big rocks. On the way back from the pier, I ran into my neighbors from Germany. I knew they were there, but we hadn't arranged a specific place or time to meet that evening, and I almost thought I wouldn't see them because of the large crowd. It was really strange but also funny to see my neighbors in Australia again.
The next few days were rather boring for me, as Leonie and her parents flew to Ayers Rock and then to Sydney, and my host family was also on vacation, so I was alone at home, well almost. During the time when my host family was not at home, a family friend stayed with me in the house for a week. I took care of Millie during that time and went on many long walks to the beach. I was originally supposed to go to Portsea to join my host family for vacation on January 4th, but in the end, I went there with my host father on January 9th.
