This time, I didn't feel like hand washing, so I walked to a laundromat, which was much faster and the clothes were dry again.
The oppressive heat here in Birmingham makes it a bit difficult to motivate myself for big things at the moment. Apparently, I caught the hottest summer with the longest period without rain in Britain since the 60s. The English are all amazed that their beautiful lawns are losing their green color ;-)
Anyway, I still followed the advice Carl Chinn gave me last night and went to the Jewellery Quarter. The whole quarter consists of several streets and houses only jewelers.
Today they are just different jewelry stores, historically many famous jeweler families lived there. Since most workshops no longer exist, it is even more interesting that the goldsmith family Smith and Pepper, who could not pass on their business to anyone without descendants or interested parties, closed the doors overnight and left everything as it was. The building was then bought by the Bristol Museum and opened to the public. During a tour of the building, you can see the offices and workshop in their original state, everything has been left as the family left it.
On the way back, I discovered a few beautiful places, but then had to go back to the hostel to plan my onward journey for tomorrow.
