A successful finish of the first school week with sweets and football

Good morning, good noon or good evening to all readers of today's blog entry.

Like the other days, this day was full of experiences, encounters and surprises which are definitely worth to be recorded and read in this post.

For me, the day started at 6:45 a.m. so nothing with sleeping in like in the last two entries. After a shower and a breakfast we left for school at 7:30 a.m. This morning was one of the coldest so far with 40°F on the thermometer. Fifteen minutes before class started, my host Theo and I walked through the frontdoor of Washington High School. This is where we parted ways, because I had to get to the German room and he had to get to his class.

Today German was on the schedule for the entire school day, as we had candy tasting with various German classes, but the first box of Toffifee was emptied before class even started.

After a few minutes, Mrs. Stoll sent us into the hallway, as the school orchestra gave a short performance of their music there, which was very impressive. After that, we were all (the exchange students) supposed to go together to the teachers' lounge/ the conference room to record the morning-video-greeting, which is done every day. Since we didn't know where to go, a few of us followed a student who was supposed to show us the way, but he got lost in the stream of the just leaving orchestra, which I and a couple of other students then just followed. Arriving at the music room of Washington High, we got a call from Vincent asking where we were. It turned out that we were about 20 rooms away from where we were supposed to be, so we walked all the way back, not far from the point we started. Once we arrived at the conference room, we recorded the school's morning announcement together, which later ran in all classes.

From 9a.m. -12:30p.m., we filled our bellies with German and U.S. sweets and we answered questions of students from the different German classes. In between, we explored the aisles, refilled our bottles at the water fountains, and grabbed snacks from the vending machines.

After 30 minutes of waiting, so around one o‘clock, Charlotte, Keno (with his host) and I went to eat hot dogs at the 'Flying Wienie'. The food tasted interesting, much like the ambiance looked. After that, we went to 'Dash Coffee' for… you guessed it… coffee. At 2, I called my host-mom to take me and Charlotte to our homes. Keno sadly had to wait for his host his mom, who had an appointment in a building next door. At 2.30 p.m. I arrived at home and wrote something on this blog , bummed around and waited for the upcoming football game until 6.30 p.m.

(Live commentary)

7:30 p.m. and the game has finally started. The mood was already good before the game and was raised a few notches with the start of the game and the appearance of the cheerleaders and the marching band.

If you want to know the score you have to read the next entry because a cliffhanger lends itself almost too well here. 🤓
