Tag 57 - Kayak Tour

Not a big deal. A little outside of Granada, the water no longer smells bad. And I was never, not for a second, in any danger.

We were just a small group of 4 people and we were driven to the lake by taxi. Elio, our guide, was already waiting for us. We just put on our life jackets and off we went. We paddled comfortably through an island landscape called "Las Isletas" for three hours. There are supposedly exactly 365 small islands, ranging from a few square meters to over a hundred hectares in size. Most of them are inhabited by fishermen, some are vacation residences (e.g. of the former president Chamorro or the largest rum maker Pellas), and some are uninhabited. There is even a school and a cemetery.

We saw lots of birds, bats, and monkeys. We were slightly bothered by the motorboats with annoying tourists while paddling on the main traffic routes. But apart from that, it was beautiful.
