Day 24: Of dolphins and dinosaurs

게시됨: 10.06.2019

Today we all get up early. Tobi has booked a diving trip for 9:30. We drive to Vrsar, which is 30 minutes away.

Near the dive base, there is a dinosaur park that I want to visit with the children. We drop off Tobi at the dive school and drive to the park. It's scorching hot and the park is almost empty. There are many dinosaur sculptures here that move when you press a button. Marik is excited and looks at the many dinosaurs.

Away from that, there are many play opportunities and rides. Most of them can be operated by yourself. You don't have to wait anywhere, so Marik takes about 20 rounds with the Bimmelbahn.

There is also a small roller coaster and a pirate ship swing. Marik wants to try everything.

At the end of the park, there is a large circus tent. There is a dinosaur show going on there. Clowns come on stage afterwards, and Marik tries to learn tricks from them.

He and Leonora each get a balloon animal and Marik has his face painted like a kitty cat.

Time flies by and 5 hours pass quickly. After that, we pick up Tobi from the dive base.

Tobi's diving trip:

The first dive was unspectacular. We explored large rocks that were leftovers from a quarry. It's interesting to note that the stones were used, among other things, to build Venice. I hardly saw anything except a few snails and crabs. The second dive at Banjole Island was more impressive. The island is traversed by a small cave system that you can dive through. The highlight is a dome in the middle where you can resurface. Suddenly, you find yourself in the middle of a cave with stalactites. The visibility was good and the sea is slowly warming up (tolerable with a wetsuit). On the way back, we see dolphins near the city of Rovinj. Overall, it was a beautiful day of diving with cool and experienced buddies, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

On the way back, we want to buy olive oil. We find a small family business through Google, whose oil is award-winning and among the top 100 olive oils in the world. From the outside, the house looks inconspicuous and at first we think we're in the wrong place. I go ahead and actually find an older gentleman sitting in a cellar, who greets me kindly. I fetch Tobi, Marik & Leo and we get to taste different oils. He also offers us a delicious homemade white wine. We buy some and talk with the owner for a long time. He gives us tips on places to visit and tells us a few things about the production of olive oil.

Feeling quite hungry and slightly tipsy from the wine, we return to the campsite. We join our friendly Bavarian helpers from the day we arrived and make connections. Later, we start the grill and relax for the evening.
