27.10. Kings Canyon - Return to Alice Springs

게시됨: 28.10.2018

Everything at the camp was wet, red, and muddy the next morning, and it keeps raining. No fire, no hot water, no tea, no coffee. Pack everything up, wet and dirty as everything was, and head to Kings Canyon, the largest canyon in Australia and part of the 72,200 ha Watarrka National Park in the George Gill Range. We wanted to go hiking amidst its steep 200m-high cliffs and fern-covered valleys. Unfortunately, it literally fell through due to the rain. The rain didn't stop. Then the return journey was in jeopardy because a 156km outback route (unsealed road) towards Alice Springs was planned, which was partially flooded due to the rain. Three outback buses joined together and dared to do it. It was very adventurous and after hours of driving, our bodies were 16 more or less cramped, shaken, and stirred. Along the way, we saw a dingo on the roadside. Our luggage looked accordingly after the flooded routes in the trailer! Our son Timo wrote to us: Adventure = self-chosen problems!! Despite everything, the trip to the outback was worth it, we were very close to nature and the simplicity of life. It was a good experience.
