The Icefield Parkway was the part of our trip that I was most looking forward to. We had heard so much about this route between Lake Louise and Jasper, seen so many great pictures, that we definitely wanted to drive here. And it was worth it, the scenery is simply fantastic.
Since we wanted to enjoy the route and not rush, we decided to stay in the middle of the Parkway. The Tourist Info in Lake Louise recommended the parking lot of the Icefield Visitor Center, which has its own space for motorhomes. And if that hadn't been cleared yet, we could have parked in the regular parking lot. But the space was free, so we parked there for the night. There was also a restaurant with WLAN in the Visitor Center, so we weren't completely cut off from the outside world. This night was the first one we spent without a power connection. So we had to limit the use of the heating, which made the night quite cold. The wind whipped around the motorhome all night long and shook us up quite a bit. At times I felt like we were in the middle of a snowstorm and would be completely snowed in in the morning, but it was actually just a storm, without snow.
Freezing, we headed to the restaurant the next morning to warm up with a hot chocolate before we continued to Jasper.
