Trip to Quebec

ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ: 13.12.2019

On Wednesday, 11.12., in the afternoon, I got on the train in Amherst heading towards Quebec. I now had a 15-hour journey ahead of me and hoped I wouldn't have another stroke of bad luck like on my flight to Charlottetown. The train arrived 30 minutes late, but this was due to a small snowstorm that day.

I had a reserved seat in a 2-seater row and made myself comfortable. Unfortunately, the compartment was not particularly warm, but I was relatively well equipped with jackets, scarves, and socks. Actually, I had planned a lot for the journey: plan my trip, plan/book more cities, continue writing in the blog, sort pictures, etc. As it happens, I didn't do any of it ;)

After watching a movie, I started to get tired and thought I had to make use of every minute. Sleepless, I tossed and turned for an hour before deciding to stay awake and watch another movie. While doing so, I actually fell asleep and woke up after an hour. Well prepared as I was (I didn't want to experience something like that again as with the plane), I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth.

Back at my seat, I made myself really comfortable. The seats were very old, but as a result, they were worn through and comfortable, which of course worked in my favor. I was able to recline the backrest of both seats far back and curled up completely on the seat surface. I could rest my head on the armrest and had my inflatable travel pillow and scarf underneath. I had my jacket over my feet, my cardigan over my body, put on the sleep mask and put in earplugs, then I quickly fell asleep again. I woke up about every hour and then turned around once, so I didn't have a particularly deep sleep, but still a good one.

At 6:00 a.m., 2 minutes before my alarm would have woken me up, an employee woke me up and said the next station was mine. I had followed our route on the internet and the arrival was predicted at 6:30 a.m. Suddenly, while brushing my teeth, the train stopped, we were already there. In a bit of a hurry, I packed my things and got off the train, only to later realize that it had been at the station for 15 minutes and I didn't have to rush. Apparently, 6:30 a.m. was not the arrival in Quebec, but the departure.

After sorting myself out outside and repacking, I was surprised by the sun and saw a beautiful sunrise. The public bus took me to my accommodation, right in the old town of Quebec, where I arrived at 8:00 a.m.

From now on, I have a 6-hour time difference to Germany again, which will remain the same for the rest of my stay in Canada.
