Anita, Craig and I left the ship shortly after 10:00 a.m. We browsed the stalls outside the ship. There was nothing I really wanted, but my companions found what they were looking for. About an hour later we boarded the shuttle bus that took us to the port exit.
There we negotiated with several drivers. At first a tuktuk driver was chosen, but when Craig noticed that he had considerable problems getting in, he insisted on a "real" car.
A Honda took us to our destination, the Lotus Tower. Since it was Anita's birthday, Craig had decided to accompany me and bought two tickets for a lunch buffet in the tower's revolving restaurant.
We first looked around the base of the tower, where there are small restaurants and shops. Then we went towards the restaurant. We had to wait in the foyer until 11:30 a.m. because the dining room didn't open until then.
In the circular restaurant, the floor consists of two concentric rings that rotate at slightly different speeds. The tables are on the inner ring, one of which was reserved for us. On the outer ring there are counters with various delicacies; meat dishes are available near the center of the tower.
We were given a welcome cocktail and after that we were on our own.
First I put together a plate of fish appetizers. Then I ate an oyster, a piece of crab, sushi and other appetizers.
Next, I put together a plate with various meat dishes and side dishes. Also very tasty!
After a breather, I turned to the desserts. The last thing we did was look at the beautiful 360-degree view.
Our taxi picked us up after we had briefly informed the driver. We were back at the ship in good time, as it was due to leave in the afternoon. However, a heavy thunderstorm delayed the departure.
I had completely forgotten that I had arranged to meet for dinner at the Japanese restaurant Izumi. There we had sushi again.
In the theater, violinist Katei played rock music.
