Even more glaciers

The morning was quite rainy, so we took the day slowly. Sleeping in after yesterday's exertions, having a good breakfast, doing household chores.

We skipped the glacier museum yesterday, after getting completely soaked from the Nigardsbreen. So today it was on the agenda. You learn a lot there about glaciers in general, but also specific information about those you can visit in the surrounding area. The Nigardsbreen is one of the few that grew until 2003, before losing a lot of mass like all the glaciers in recent years.

After a hearty lunch, we drove to the starting point of our next hike. From a distance, we could already see an impressive glacier tongue. When we reached the parking lot, there were only a handful of tourists (cars) there, quite different from the Nigardsbreen.

The hiking trail to the glacier was very beautiful and not particularly challenging, perfect for a relaxed family hike. It's also not mentioned in any of the guidebooks, so there weren't many people. Highly recommended.

We only arrived back at the starting point after 3.5 hours, and since it was already 19:00, we continued to the next destination.

We found a very small campsite right by the fjord with 2 pitches. With us, it's now 50% occupied.

Anita and the children played a night game of soccer at the local elementary school playground. They came back sweaty for dinner in the camper at 23:00.

Tomorrow, we will take the ferry to Urnes to visit the stave church.
