Somewhere in the jungle on the Mekong

This morning started for me at 4:45 am as I wanted to be part of the monk ceremony. We walked to the beginning of the Night Market, waited for the monks, and gave them bananas and rice in their bowls. They are not allowed to cook, so the locals prepare something for them.

Back at the hotel, we had breakfast and prepared for the 2-day Mekong River cruise. We got on a long, open boat and sailed slowly past buffaloes, beaches, forests, and boats. We could feel the breeze, it was great. We passed the time by sleeping, eating, listening to music, and writing in our journals. When we saw the sunset on the boat, it wasn't far to our 2nd homestay.

When we arrived, the children already greeted us. We went up to the village, got a small tour, and had dinner. There were so many children again, but also animals to see. And the food was delicious. Unbelievable with the few resources they have. For example, the toilet was just a hole in the ground without flushing, they only had electricity for the lights, and running water was only available in a few places.

Later, we played some games with the children and were then led to our sleeping quarters. We slept in the houses with the families, separated only by half wooden walls. But the children were too excited to go to sleep. So we gave them our phones to play games or take photos. The girls really wanted to braid our hair. It was a fun evening with the kids.
