Medellin number one

The day of the journey started off a bit bumpy (Is that really a word - Yes, no, maybe?)... When we wanted to pick up our laundry, the receptionist said, 'Yes, but it will only be ready at 10:00 PM (for the linguists among you, 10pm).' Cony understood 10am the night before. Great, our flight is at 9pm, almost all of our laundry is gone, fantastic. But we were able to arrange for them to bring us the laundry earlier if we pay for the taxi ourselves. Phew... With our luggage in tow, we flew to Medellin. A rather unfriendly taxi driver then took us to the hostel (in contrast to the cool taxi driver in Santa Marta who sang Robbie Williams songs with us on the way to the airport). The hostel is not really that great.. the associated bar and rooftop terrace are being renovated right now, it's not really suitable for meeting people and overall it's just so-so. But the location is great, right in the middle of the El Poblado neighborhood. The next morning, Cony went to school and I checked out the neighborhood. Oh, and I heard some great news: Lee, a super cool Australian girl who was previously staying with us in the hostel and traveled around with the funny English/Dutch group for a long time, spontaneously decided to come to Medellin too, because we're here and other people she met are also here, and she has already been to Medellin but why not. Yesterday, Lee arrived late, so our group was limited to the two of us, two Swiss people from Cony's language school, and an American girl we met at the previous hostel. After an XXL cocktail (quote from everyone: 'Never drank anything so gross in my life.'), we briefly went to another club before heading home.
