There's not much to report from the last two days.
On the one hand, lying lazily on the beach or by the pool and enjoying at least 23° temperature difference from home.
Then, maybe forgetting to apply sunscreen and thinking - I'm sitting in the shade. Hello sunburn. But everything is still within limits.
On our last evening at Le Petit Saint Tropez, we were served a grand feast. There were squid, prawns, and sea bass. Fried rice and hash browns were also served. An absolute dream. And maybe there was a little more garlic in it.
The next day, we first went to Surat Thani by bus. It took about an hour and cost 150 Baht per person. The onward journey to Khao Lak was also no problem, as we were directed to the right place at the bus station in Surat Thani (after deflecting the first 'helpful' people). The cost for the 4-hour journey was 180 Baht (4.50€) per person, which is half as 'expensive' as on the internet (the tickets would have cost 9€ when booked online).
In Khao Lak, we could get off the bus just 500m before our hotel and walked the 'few' meters in the cool midday heat of 33°. Including 20 kg of luggage. But all in all, it was okay. But you don't have to do it every day on vacation.
The accommodation in Khao Lak is really nice, located right on the edge of the jungle. And therefore very quiet. The pool will have a pleasant temperature of 27°. And some voices already asked why the pool in Coswig doesn't have this operating temperature. (You can discuss this when we cook together next time. I'll eat popcorn while you do.)
After the exhausting bus ride, we had the first Pad Krapao on this vacation and it was very delicious.
In the evening, we went to the Bang Niang Night Market. Heide's note: I wanted to leave immediately. Only tourists, very loud, and you really have to search for Thai food.
In combination with a little homesickness and a headache - not so great. But the sticky rice with mango was a little comfort.
Back at the accommodation, we had a beer for the Egg and I looked up where to get some Thai food, preferably with fewer tourists. But that's fine with me.
Tomorrow is a new day and then we'll simply start again with Khao Lak.
