16.02.2023 from Port Elliot to Kangaroo Island, Chapman River Campground

Today we have time, the ferry doesn't depart until 6 p.m. and it's only a 1.5-hour drive from Port Elliot to the ferry terminal. So we take our time to shower, refill water, and meet a German vacationing woman who is also staying at the campsite with her husband and cleans the toilets. It's already very hot early in the morning, 38 degrees are forecasted, and the desire to go hiking is limited. We spend the time in the visitor center, book the 3 campsites in the national parks that we need on the island, and chat with an old man who is learning German and wants to test his skills on us.

Finally, the campsites are booked and in the adjacent, well-maintained park, we can send our pictures at a Wi-Fi spot. Today, neither of us feels like hiking, it's 39 degrees, there's a very hot wind blowing, and I, at least, am tired and exhausted. We go shopping. It's pleasantly cool in the shopping center, and today we take the time that we don't usually have. And we realize that there is very good Wi-Fi here as well. The blog posts from the last few days and the pictures from last week are quickly uploaded.

We drive to Cape Jervis, where the ferry departs. Although we are early, it doesn't get boring, there's Wi-Fi again and a lot to see. The ferry arrives and is unloaded and reloaded. Only the driver is allowed in the car, it goes backwards onto the catamaran. The crossing is calm, after 50 minutes we arrive and we are the only ones leaving the ferry in our direction. We have booked in the national park and find a very peaceful and secluded campground. Exactly what we want. Now we sit by the river and have a beer, enjoying the beautiful evening. It's still warm, and today we can use a sheet to cover ourselves.
