My guardian angel is working hard

Hans just couldn't go on. It was Sunday, his last day of vacation, and the weather was perfect. But the past two days had exhausted him so much that he had lost all motivation. None of my attempts to motivate him worked, and the energetic person from three days ago was nowhere to be found. So after breakfast, Hans said goodbye to embark on his journey home and towards a well-deserved rest. I must admit, I felt a bit sentimental. We had a lot of fun during the week and I wouldn't have minded extending our time together. From now on, I would be on my own again for the next few months, as I often am during my travels.

But there were plenty of distractions to keep me from dwelling too much on the sadness. Another day at the bike park at a discounted price was on the agenda, and many of the trails were still waiting to be explored by me. So I hopped on the cogwheel train to Weißfluh-Joch and headed towards Klosters. The view was magnificent, with the Silvretta glaciers towering over the village. The downhill ride was technically challenging, especially since the roots hadn't completely dried yet, causing my tires to unexpectedly gravitate towards gravity. This resulted in a couple of somersaults that sent me flying over the handlebars. In those moments, you really appreciate the value of protective gear.

The whole day continued to be quite challenging, and at the end, I wanted to revisit a trail highlight from the rainy day with Hans at Jakobshorn, but with better conditions this time. It went pretty well for the most part, and many of the tricky sections were now rideable. But not all of them. In the last hundred meters, there was a stretch along a slope that looked manageable. With a bit of momentum, I thought I could easily get across. However, my momentum wasn't enough, and to make matters worse, I tipped to the left where the slope was. There was nothing beneath me but thin air, and I flipped over the handlebars, flying one meter straight into the bushes. I tumbled another five meters down until I finally found something to hold onto. And to top it all off, my bike came tumbling after me and hit me on the head. At least I was glad to be wearing a helmet, and my guardian angel was getting a little annoyed with all the extra work today. Other than a few holes in my new shirt, there were no further damages to report. It was definitely time to end the bike park activities to prevent my tour from ending prematurely.
