On the bike hunting zebras and giraffes

Last weekend, I went to Lake Naivasha. There I met a friend who is doing an internship in Nairobi. We spent two nights at a beautiful campsite. We had company from monkeys and hippos, so we were never alone ;)

On Saturday, we set off very early with rented bicycles to Hell's Gate National Park. This park is the only one in Kenya that can be visited on foot or by bike. With the sunrise, we entered the gorge. Steep, rugged cliffs on the left and right, warthogs, gazelles, antelopes, zebras, and occasionally giraffes on the meadows. Simply breathtakingly beautiful landscape. We spent the whole day in the park and visited the tourist attraction Hell's Gate Gorge in the afternoon. A very deep gorge that we were only allowed to enter with a guide. We walked barefoot in some places, to hot springs and small waterfalls called Devil's shower.

Today is my last day here in Kenya, even though I don't want to, but unfortunately I have to leave tonight. I had a lot of fun and it was a great experience for me! Even though the work at the school is different from what we are taught, I can see that Eldoret Special School is doing a very good job with the available methods. I think things may even improve with the new curriculum.

Yesterday, we finally went to the county sports competition for special schools. It was very interesting and impressive to see how fast some of the children are. I wouldn't have won any of the races...

So, enjoy the pictures from the weekend and from the sports, I need to continue packing :)
