London: shopping, shopping, shopping and more shopping!
My cousin and I traveled to London over New Year's Eve. Very fascinating city! The permanently rainy/misty/cloudy weather and the red brick houses that are so haphazardly arranged give the city a depressing and charming touch at the same time. Despite its dry appearance, London is full of life, full of love, and full of acceptance. There were thousands of people (probably also because of the timing) which overwhelmed me a bit, but they radiated such joy and serenity that you always felt comfortable.
Oxford Street (endless shopping) and the Soho district (a cozier shopping district with lots of food and drink stalls as well as clubs and bars) were overcrowded decorated with fairy lights, neon lights, and decorative balls: very beautiful, Christmassy, and yet also ideal for New Year's Eve.
On December 31st, we were spontaneously invited to a home party in a pub by the group next to us who were enjoying their drinks, and after our night out on January 1st, we ended up at a 40-year-old family father's house whom we asked for help regarding our way home at 4 a.m., for a drink until 6 a.m. It turned out that he lived near our hotel, so we also had the pleasure of experiencing a typical English home with a brilliant kitchen and a Christmas tree in the living room.
Conclusion about London:
London over New Year's Eve is perfect for shopping, everything is on sale, and there is something for everyone! The people are very pleasant, you easily make new acquaintances, and you feel comfortable despite the huge crowd.
