This small town was recommended to us by a surfer. Everyone on the island also raved about it. Unfortunately, Guarda is a small resort village where only the supermarket and 1-2 restaurants are open during the off season. But the village is damn beautiful and the beach too! But it also makes it difficult: to get there, you have to cross two tributaries of a river in which you sink in quicksand if you walk too slowly. The next day, we took the land route over a hill through the jungle. We also don't know which one is more dangerous.
But then you arrive at this wonderful empty beach. Fishing takes place at the river mouth and surfers sit in the water further out, we couldn't stop taking pictures! For the guys, it was great for surfing, up to the point where the waves break, you can simply walk there, no paddling required. The weather was also better again, so I could get a little 'tan' on the beach, so that people believe that I was in South America for 10 months.
In the holiday apartment with a campsite (so Jonas and I could sleep in the bus), we cooked a lot and well. We had taken kilos of fish and seafood with us from Florianópolis, and then we had them with a lot of garlic and lime. The next day, there was a 1.5 kilo steak, but if it's not enough, we prepared another 1 kilo steak, always with salad and baked potatoes, but nobody felt like washing up. After a few days, we felt drawn to a city that is so deserted, it's not that much fun anymore.
