Kingston

Hello, we have spent the last few days at a campsite in Kingston on Lake Ontario. This is where the St. Lawrence River flows into Lake Ontario. There are many islands and a boat trip is a good idea.

When we arrived at the campsite, we were told at reception that we would be given a "dry" pitch because it had rained a lot in the last few days. On this "dry" pitch, our front wheels sank so deep into the grass and mud that we couldn't get out on our own. Even the electronic traction control didn't help; we dug ourselves deeper and deeper. A camper (our age) from the province of Manitoba quickly came along, tied a rope around our trailer hitch and used her four-by-four to pull the camper backwards out of the mud. Thank goodness for someone who knows what they're doing, I thought. The next day, she "confessed" to me that it was the first time she'd done something like that in her life. (?!?)

The days at the campsite were otherwise very relaxed, and we were often asked about our German vehicle.

We mainly use solar power, but just to be on the safe side we have a converter with us that converts the Canadian power (115 volts) into our 230 V. To do this we have to connect several adapters and cables to the camper and the converter, a bit complicated, but it worked (thanks Frank for the advice).

We drove through Toronto today with "light" traffic (Sunday evening) and are now staying overnight at Walmart in Hamilton. It feels reasonably safe.
