We say goodbye to Porto and drive along the coast. This works mostly until we get to Granja, but then we miss a diversion sign and end up in a dead end because of a construction site. Now we have to reverse out about 800 m because there is no turning point anywhere. I'm delighted!😬😬😬
Eventually we find the N 109 and the 327 and then we continue along the lagoon to Sao Jacinto. To the left is brackish water and to the right is the sea and in front of it are impressive villas. The plan was to take the ferry to Aveiro. However, our car is half a meter too high. So we have to go back. But first we have to go to the beach, where we are almost alone, and of course I have to do a water cold test with my feet at least. 🤣
Luckily, we can use a bridge over the lagoon about halfway along the route. On the road to Aveiro there are either speed bumps or a roundabout every 300 m, so it takes a while.
The next large construction site awaits us in Aveiro and we wind our way through the one-way streets until we finally reach the entrance to our motorhome parking space under the motorway. There may be more motorhomes here, so we decide to spend the night here.
After a short siesta, we walk into the city, which is also known as the Venice of Portugal. We book a short boat tour that takes us through the canals. From here, we admire the Art Nouveau houses and the house facades decorated with Ajulejoz. Another city tour and then dinner at Ferro.
