Tag 1: Thursday 02.08.2018 Arrival Dunkirk

Today our big journey began. We started from home at 11:11 am. The journey went smoothly so far, but it was very hot (about 35°C). We were stuck in traffic for about an hour around Brussels. After about 9 hours of driving and 3 driver changes, we arrived in Dunkirk / Bourbourg around 8 pm.

Our booked accommodation turned out to be a self-check-in hotel without a reception. We received the room card from a machine (see machine). The room is nice and quite modern for the price (46€ per night). There is a fridge, a microwave, and a coffee machine. Cleanliness is also good.

After arrival, we visited the ferry port for tomorrow. Then we went to the beach, but it was low tide. Without seawater, we had to use the shower. It had two settings - boiling hot or freezing cold.

Tomorrow we have to be at the ferry at 7:00 am.

Lesson of the day: Boiling hot or freezing cold - you have to take life as it comes.
