The journey continued through the mountains. In the morning, I had to say goodbye to my faithful companion who would have loved to come along. Initially, we took smaller, bumpy, and not always cleared country roads heading north. After about 35 kilometers, the next Hittite city, Alacahöyük, appeared. Since I didn't have anything better to do, I wanted to visit it as well. A staff member was still busy shoveling the snow away from the entrance. Compared to Hattusa, the site was tiny (and covered in snow), and the museum was more of a quick stop, but it was very suitable for a lunch break.
Later, we continued on the main road to Corum, the largest city between Ankara and Samsun. My hotel was on a relatively busy side street, but I was allowed to take my bike to the room. In the evening, for the first time in four days, I finally had a warm meal. Soup, salad, Adana kebab, and künefe were devoured in front of the eyes of astonished waiters, all for the equivalent of €6. After that, I went back to my hotel room, full and satisfied.
