Trip to San Juan Gaztelugatxe

We were hoping to be rewarded with a stunning sunrise over the lake from our amazing campsite...But no such luck. Until noon, it was completely foggy...you could hardly see 10 meters ahead.

Only around noon did the fog clear up and we drove through the Urkiola Nature Park back up to the coast.

There we wanted to visit the world heritage site San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Unfortunately, access had become impassable due to a landslide and we could only admire the monastery from a distance. Instead, we found a beautiful campsite right on the cliffs with a view of the Bay of Biscay.
