Today our journey continues...we leave beautiful Thailand and travel to Luang Prabang, Laos by slow boat.
At a quarter to 8, we took a tuk-tuk towards the Thailand/Laos border.
There, we got our exit stamp in our passports and then were taken by bus to the Laotian border.
After filling out the arrival card, we received a visa stamp for 30 USD.
On to the next adventure...an unknown land called LAOS!
Since we want to avoid flying as much as possible, we have two days ahead of us with 6 and 7 hours of boat ride each!
From the outside, the boat doesn't really make a good impression, but we will be proven wrong. Although we are sitting on discarded car seats, they are still relatively comfortable and there is plenty of room.
The first 6 hours feel like an eternity...the landscape around us looks very monotonous.
But we have mastered this stage as well and arrived at our intermediate destination Pakbeng shortly before darkness fell.
We are taken to our pre-booked accommodation on a kind of truck, where we take a seat on the loading area.
After a small meal, we fall exhausted into bed.
Today, after a small breakfast, we got back on the boat. The last stage from Pakbeng to Luang Prabang was on the agenda.
Our boat left Pakbeng at 9 o'clock sharp.
Some locals also use this type of transportation and are frequently on board with us.
We have passed some smaller stops where the locals got off the boat.
We passed the seven hours on the boat by doing crossword puzzles and taking photos.
Tired again, we finally arrived in Luang Prabang.
After a fast ride with the tuk-tuk, we checked into our previously booked accommodation.
We ended the evening at the night market with delicious food and beer.
