Siem Reap, 06.03.-08.03.2020 (Day 34-36)

After 6 hours of bus ride, everything went smoothly again and we arrived in Siem Reap.

Phew, after relaxing days at the beach, we find it blazing hot here in the city! 🙈

After checking into the hotel, we explore the area a bit and end the evening with a delicious dinner in the Pubstreet.

On the second day in Siem Reap, we hire a tuk-tuk driver that we approached on the street, who then takes us to the famous Angkor Wat.

Thanks to the Corona virus, of which we hardly hear anything here in Southeast Asia (unlike in Germany 🙈), there are hardly any tourists there and we are completely alone in some hallways in the temple! In one of the hallways, there is a monk. At first, we keep a lot of distance because we have a lot of respect for these people.

But then we dare to get closer and let the monk bless us with a sacred bracelet. This is supposed to bring us a lot of luck and also represents eternal life! This bracelet is supposed to be worn until it falls off on its own!

It's really impressive how huge this temple complex is.

You really need several days to see everything.

However, due to the heat, it's really exhausting and we are glad to sit back in the tuk-tuk after an hour and a half and feel the cool breeze during the drive.

Four more temple complexes are ahead of us, as we have booked the small tour of the Angkor Wat area.

The second temple on our tour is the Ta Prohm temple. Parts of the blockbuster movie Tomb Raider were filmed here.

This temple impresses us a lot, even though it is very deteriorated and many areas are supported by steel columns.

The huge trees that have found their way through the ruins are really worth seeing!

At the last temple, we can't find a shady spot, so we hang out in the forest with the wild monkeys 🐒🐒🐒

After over 5 hours, we are back at the hotel and jump into our pool 😍 just the right thing to do in this heat!

We end the evening again on the Pubstreet!

Today, it's even hotter than yesterday 🙈

Phew, we stroll through the streets until early afternoon and then return to the hotel to rest and cool off in the pool again.

And like every evening, we end this evening with a delicious meal and a couple of chilled beers.

Tomorrow morning, we have to get up very early because we say goodbye to Cambodia and hello to Bali ✈️🏝🌋🤿🐠🐡🦑🐢

The plane departs at 08:30 am 😍
