Woche 17 - გამარჯობა ლამაზო სარდინია

The week started quite comfortably on the coast of Spain. Not much happened here, I basically just spent the days until Thursday.

All day I was tense because in the evening, or rather at night at 11:30 p.m., my ferry from Barcelona to Porto Torres, Sardinia, was supposed to depart. I have never taken a ferry before, especially not with a camper van and from the megacity Barcelona.

Fortunately, I found the Grimaldi Lines ferry port without any problems. I arrived one hour before the official boarding time. Boarding was supposed to start 2 hours before departure. However, I was not one of the first, but as it turned out, one of the last.

The ferry was really huge. Much bigger than I expected it to be.

Since the ferry was supposed to continue to Rome, the cars and campers had to board last for Sardinia, logically.

Well, one truck after another passed by us, so I started to doubt if I would even get on board. Other travelers said that it was not a typical tourist ferry, but rather more of a transport ferry.

And finally, we campers were allowed on board. As the fourth-to-last car, I finally made it onto the ferry at 11:45 p.m. Countless employees helped us maneuver in the limited space and guided us to the right position.

I arrived in Sardinia on Friday after 14 hours. The weather could have been better, but what is not can still come :-)

My first stop was at a electronics store in Porto Torres, because they also sell SIM cards there. Now I have a proud 120 GB for 10 euros per month. Germany could really learn something from that haha.

I spent the first night on the beach with only one other camper.

Overall, since arriving, I have noticed that there is absolutely nothing going on here. Some people claim that Spain was completely overcrowded this year. I didn't feel that way, but of course I have no point of comparison. Well, now compared to Sardinia, you can definitely see it that way. I think the difference is mainly that many Spaniards themselves own a camper van and travel with it.

The first impression is definitely very good. If the weather gets a little better, everything is great ;-)

I will travel around Sardinia counterclockwise in the next few weeks and am now on the west coast.

Puh, 14 Stunden sind ganz schön lang 😏 und rangieren auf der Fähre, toll 👍. Neues Abenteuer Italien kann beginnen.
