The Zachęta
is one of the 'most ambitious art galleries in Poland' - as it is written. Zachęta means 'encouragement' or 'motivation', which is exactly what I need today. Off I go..
Here you can find video installations.
There is a theory that the Polish Piast dynasty are actually Scandinavians. Researchers who support this theory are trying to prove it through genetic analysis of the remains of the princes Mieszko & Co.
The artist here is obviously artistically engaging with the results of the genetic analysis:
The man on the left has a gun, the man on the right doesn't. You can imagine how that ends...
How to properly attach a thread to a hook. Learning something new..
And for that I have to travel all the way to Warsaw!
Zachęta? Well, I liked it, really!
Szalone dni muzyki
The 'Crazy Music Days - La Danse' are starting here today, if translated correctly:
I have a ticket for a solo piano evening at the venerable Teatre Wielki w Warszawie (Grand Theatre). Madness!
The Majster is not here yet:
A Mazurka is a Polish dance (that's the reference to 'La Danse', the name of the festival). That's my introduction to the topic ;-)
Then it starts:
Chopin, Paderewski, Szymanowski, Maciejewski, Kilar, Zalewski (please repeat loudly),... then there is improvisation.
A true Majster at the keyboard - only, he didn't think of the audience! The tonal space of the Mazurkas expands, piece by piece - but the rows of seats thin out equally (the people are quite szalone). The remaining listeners, however, celebrate the Majster:
Just outside, it continues:
the Young-Power Big-Band
Clarinet Jazz Polka:
And now I am too, but at home in Dzielna, with a little soup ;-)
Faux Pas of the Day:
If you don't speak Polish, you'll get stuck right here:
No worries, everything turned out fine :-) Seen in time:
