Our speedboat departs at 9 am from the port of Airlie Beach. There are 9 other people on the boat with us heading to the Whitsundays. Unfortunately, we didn't have good weather and it starts raining during the one-hour crossing, with strong wind blowing through the open sides of the boat covered only with tarpaulins. When we arrive at the island, it's drizzling lightly and we go ashore. It takes us 15 minutes to reach the lookout and it starts raining. The mood drops a little as the sand doesn't look as good with cloudy skies and rain. Shortly after, it stops and spirits lift a bit. After the lookout, we go to the beach. On the way, we meet Sebastian and Niko. The two of them had booked a two-day tour and had already completed one day.
We walked along the beach, took plenty of photos, and even saw a stingray swimming in the water. After a 2-hour stay on the island, we went back to the boat. During our cruise through the bay, we had lunch. After lunch, we visited two different snorkeling spots. At the first spot, we saw many different colorful coral species and various fish. We were amazed as the coral diversity was greater than at the Lady Musgrave Island Reef. At the second snorkeling spot, we saw thousands of fish of the same species. We also encountered 3 huge fish weighing up to 150 kg, one of which we could even touch. When everyone was back on board, we headed back to the port at full speed through the rain.
After the tour, we spent a few more hours with Niko and Sebastian to bid each other farewell. Hopefully, we will see Sebastian again soon in Malaysia :)
