Koh Chang 08.12-13.12

The journey here was anything but pleasant. 6 hours by car plus a ferry, in bad weather, and the driver just wouldn't slow down.. well, we survived.

We had a simple little bungalow here on the island, but it was right by the sea.

This is where we also met Marcus (my brother) and Sandy.

One day we went out together on the scooter.

We went to the lighthouse and then we just wanted to go to a waterfall.

So we paid the entrance fee and the barrier opened.

Suddenly there were huge elephant sculptures and a 7-storey, run-down cruise ship in a large abandoned luxury resort.

Marcus and Sandy already knew from their guidebook that it supposedly closed about a year ago.

Somehow it was all very eerie.

Of course, I wanted to climb in right away, but the entrances were boarded up..

There were also small boats and floating buildings on the lake, which were completely rotten. I climbed over the destroyed staircase to take a look. Some of them were still fully furnished, with a bed, table and chairs. As if everything had been left in a hurry.

But what made the whole thing even stranger was the fact that there were a few people splashing in the pool, lying on the remains of a sunbed by the sea, and a restaurant was still open.

Some people still work there, even though everything is rotten.

So all in all, it's very eerie and for me a reason to investigate all this.

The result:

Actually, the resort has been considered closed for a long time, even years.

I could still book the hotel on some booking sites.

The last reviews are anything but positive.

"Horror house", unbelievable that such a thing exists, "never again"

Among the locals, the resort has a very bad reputation, as it is said to bring bad luck and is a bad place.

They are also against making money from this place and that it can still be visited at all.

And the most important question, why the hotel had to close?

According to the Thais who live here, there were too many deaths. After several suicides, the hotel had to close.

We will probably never know the whole story. But perfect for a horror film. It all reminded me of the movie "Ghost-Ship" 🙈

We also found our waterfall.

Somehow there was no real path to get there anymore and we were already about to turn back. But I could hear water and didn't want to give up, so I climbed ahead over tree and stone (I should have just sent someone else ahead). I found the waterfall but also a naked couple under it, who obviously didn't expect visitors 😂😂😂😂 so Adam and Eve

Well, they got dressed and after 5 minutes we left them alone again 😂

The next day, we were only two of us on the scooter in the north. In the fishing village, at the temple, and in the mangroves.

In the evenings, the four of us usually went out to eat until we took the speedboat to the next island.
